Sponsorship Programme
Many of the children who
attend this school come from impoverished areas and are unable to pay for
education. It costs them €210 annually to go to the secondary school and most
families cannot afford this. 75% of
the students get the opportunity to go to school through sponsorship programmes.
These young people are very bright and ambitious and realise that education is their passport to the future and the only means whereby they can aspire to a better standard of living. They work hard at their studies, arriving at school at 7am each morning and many are still there when the school is locked at 7.30pm. While at school they receive a meal at mid day and for some this is their only meal of the day. The students and their families are extremely grateful for the sponsorship and the opportunity it gives them.
On returning to Doon, we
promised to help extend this Sponsorship Programme.
We have set up a bank account to which potential sponsors can make a
donation. All the money donated goes
directly to the School in Embulbul and will be used to give a child the chance
to get educated. Sponsors will be
given details of the child they are sponsoring and will be informed of their
progress through school.
If you would like to give a
child this opportunity you can do so by contacting our school and requesting
further information. Payment can be made directly to us here in St. Fintan’s or
by Standing Order.
Your sponsorship options
are as follows:-
-
Sponsor a secondary school student for 1 year €210
-
Sponsor a Primary school student for 1 year €80
-
Make a donation to the school in Embulbul € whatever you can afford
