Transition Year, 2009/2010
Lyric FM
On the 1st of October two presenters from Lyric FM, Lorcan Murray and Eamonn Lenihan, visited the school as part of the station's Education and Outreach programme. This programme introduces students to making music based radio programmes, using samples of the music played on RTÉ lyric fm.
They brought a mobile radio studio and the fundamental aspects of radio programme- making were discussed. The TY class then got to prepare, script, present and produce their programmes.
An introductory session with studio recording and broadcast standard equipment was given and other students had to script and plan the programmes. When the planning was completed, the students recorded their programmes on minidisc!
A great day was had by all and special thanks is given to both Lorcan and Eamonn for their great effort and enthusiasm. The event was the first of its kind in the school and is certainly going to be a highlight for the TY year. As one student (who shall remain nameless!)said 'the music isn't too bad either'! Praise indeed. Thanks to Mrs. O'Shea for coordinating and well done to all concerned!
Below are a sample of pictures from the day; the full
album is available in the school's photo gallery accessed by clicking
