Scoil na Trionóide Naofa, Doon
New Website- (January 2011)
The website for the new school , www.stn.ie , has been launched.
Uniform
A
committee comprising staff, students and parents of all three schools recently
met with a supplier to decide on a uniform for the new school.
Further meetings have been arranged and mannequins with sample uniforms
will be set up in all three schools as part of the process.
An art competition will also be held in which pupils will be invited to
design a crest for the new uniform.
School Name Survey
We recently had a survey on our site regarding a name for the new amalgamated secondary school. The results were as follows:
Number of responses: 32
Scoil na Trionoide Naofa: 20 votes
Holy Trinity School: 12 votes
At a recent meeting of the Steering Committee, the Gaelic version of the name was selected. Attention has now moved to the school motto, crest and uniform.
Announcement by Minister
The construction of the new Doon Secondary school has taken a significant step forward with the announcement by the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan TD, that the 3rd Bundle of schools to be provided via Public Private Partnership (PPP) is now ready to be offered to the market. Outline planning permission for all 8 schools in the bundle has been achieved and following a tendering process, construction is expected to begin in early 2012.
After many years of waiting, planning and preparing for the amalgamation of St. Fintan's CBS with St. Joseph's Convent of Mercy and St. Michaels Community College can get underway. The new school will accommodate 850 pupils and will feature state of the art educational and sporting facilities.
The application for OPP can be viewed by visiting the Limerick County Council website and following the links for planning.
